"By nurturing the connection between the hips and emotions, the practice of yoga empowers us to cultivate self-awareness, explore our suppressed emotions and balance our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing."

- My Soul Sanctuary

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Your hips don’t lie.” There’s actually some truth to this! Our hips can hold onto both physical and emotional tension. In the holistic community, we often explore the deep connection between our physical, mental and emotional health. One of the most interesting relationships we encounter is the deep bond between our hips and our emotions.

Many holistic practitioners believe our hips, the seat of emotions, play a key role in storing tension, memories, trauma, and accumulated energy from both past and present experiences. Through the practice of yoga, particularly hip-opening postures, these deep-seated emotions can be released, promoting greater emotional and mental balance.

As we open and stretch the hips, stagnant energy may begin to shift, which can lead to the release of emotional blockages in the Root and Sacral chakras. This process can be very freeing and cathartic, allowing suppressed emotions to rise to the surface, creating an opportunity for awareness, acceptance, and healing.

I invite you to join one of the upcoming new series', Happy Heart & Hips, where we focus on these powerful connections. Together, we’ll explore gentle practices that allow us to open our hearts and hips, release what no longer serves us, and embrace a more balanced and harmonious state of being.

Each series is a 6 week commitment with a total investment of $75. Check it out and sign up today!
