Healing Touch can help support our health and well-being in various ways. This holistic therapy works with the individual energy field which penetrates and surrounds the body, and the energy centres within and beyond the physical body. These energy centres, also known as chakras, create the individual field. The function of the chakras are to regulate flow from the surrounding universal energy field to the physical body, as well as the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of the person.

The gentle, non-invasive methods of Healing Touch engage the practitioner's mind, heart and hands to clear, energize and balance the client's energy field, supporting body, mind, spirit and emotions. Healing Touch is based on a heart-centered, caring relationship where the practitioner and client come together in an energetic partnership to facilitate the client's health and healing.

Specific goals and intentions for healing are mutually identified by the client and practitioner at the beginning of a session. A predictable result is not possible, since energy has its own wisdom and will go where it is needed the most. However, years of research and evidence has shown deep relaxation, decreases in anxiety and pain, and overall increases in health and well-being. It also supports the body's natural healing process. Many have reported positive experiences that may have helped them better cope with illness, and manage side-effects of medical treatments and procedures. Healing Touch has proven to have no known detrimental side effects. It complements and supports other traditional, medical and health treatments.

During a session (which can vary in length averaging 30 - 60 minutes), the practitioner will gently place hands on or above the person's (fully clothed) body, noting any sensations or imbalances to assess the energy field. Specific techniques are then chosen based on the client's needs. This may include light physical touch or sweeping hand motions above the body. People have many different responses to Healing Touch. Some clients feel nothing at all. Others describe sensations of moving energy, deep relaxation, feelings of being supported and nurtured, or visions of images or colours. Some experience an emotional release such as tears; some have what they consider to be a spiritual experience or they may develop insight into specific areas of their lives.

Last week I shared a short video from the Healing Touch Program, Part 1. Click here to watch Part 2.
