"I stumbled into an alcohol-free lifestyle. I didn't plan on it being so good."

- ALCOHOL FREE PROJECT

Last January, I made a difficult decision to give up alcohol for 1 year as my New Year's resolution. I wasn't sure that I could do it, but it turned out to be the best decision ever! Intentions of self-love and healing were set, while focusing on opening my holistic business for 2022. It wasn't easy at first. I often craved for wine, and struggled when eating out in restaurants or at social events. But over time, these cravings slowly went away. I replaced alcohol with healthier beverages, and now prefer drinking herbal teas, kombucha and homemade lattés!

I've learned and grown so much in this past year, and now have my very own yoga & wellness studio overlooking the water. I've also experienced much healing in body, mind and spirit. I wake up every morning feeling great! No more brain fog, headaches or hangovers....and my skin is clear! (More info will be shared in future blogs on gut health and how it relates to the skin and many other health issues, including cravings and addictions).

Despite the social acceptance of alcohol, it is an addictive, neurotoxic carcinogenic drug. Society normalizes alcohol consumption in a way that would never be tolerated by other drugs. Sadly, alcohol is the only drug on this planet that people have to justify not taking!

New studies show that no amount of alcohol is safe. The more you drink, the greater the health risks. To name a few, there's heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer, liver disease, digestive issues, dementia, increased systemic inflammation, a weakened immune system, accidental injuries or even death.

What started out as me taking a one year break has turned into a lifestyle. I may decide in the future to have a drink on special occasions, but for now, I am committed to living alcohol-free with a healthier body and happier mindset, being fully present in every moment!

If you are sober curious or want to consider taking a break, there's some great resources out there.
